The La Salle Lady Spikers continued their dominance over the Ateneo Blue Eagles with a commanding sweep in their recent UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball match. With this victory, La Salle extended their win streak over Ateneo to an impressive 13 games.

After suffering a tough five-set loss to the UST Golden Tigresses earlier, La Salle was determined to bounce back strong against their rivals. Despite a scare in the second set, where Ateneo managed to tie the score at 22-all, the Lady Spikers showed their championship pedigree and sealed the set with crucial points from Shevana Laput and Angel Canino.

In the third set, La Salle came out firing on all cylinders, establishing a significant lead early on. Although Ateneo tried to mount a comeback, the Lady Spikers remained composed and closed out the match with back-to-back points from Thea Gagate.

Head coach Ramil de Jesus emphasized the importance of learning from their mistakes and making necessary adjustments after their loss to UST. He commended his players for addressing their errors and executing their game plan effectively against Ateneo.

Gagate led La Salle’s scoring with 15 points, supported by Laput who contributed 13 markers. Meanwhile, Lyann de Guzman led the charge for Ateneo with 15 points, seven digs, and four excellent receptions.

With this win, La Salle improved to a 3-1 win-loss record, while Ateneo fell to 1-3 in the tournament standings. The victory reaffirmed La Salle’s status as a formidable force in the UAAP women’s volleyball scene, while Ateneo looks to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming matches.
