During the recent Hanoi Grandmaster Closed Tournament held in Vietnam, International Master Daniel Quizon demonstrated his prowess by clinching second place in the second group. Although he ended up tied for first with Vietnamese GM Tran Tuan Minh, Quizon’s loss in the sixth round pushed him into the runner-up position. Nonetheless, his strong performance serves as a boost as he gears up for the upcoming Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. Additionally, Filipino GM Darwin Laylo participated in Quizon’s bracket, securing the sixth spot out of 10 competitors. Meanwhile, IM Michael Concio competed in the first group, finishing fifth with a total of 4.5 points.
