Far Eastern University (FEU) made a strong start to the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament by defeating the University of the Philippines (UP) in their opening match. The Lady Tamaraws emerged victorious with a three-set win, clinching the victory with scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, February 18.

Although UP mounted a comeback attempt in the first set, FEU maintained control throughout the match, securing the win in the next two sets.

Gerzel Petallo led the charge for FEU with an impressive performance, contributing 16 points through 12 attacks and four blocks. Chenie Tagaod also made significant contributions with 12 points, while Tin Ubaldo showcased excellent playmaking skills with 14 excellent sets.

Under the guidance of new head coach Manolo Refugia, FEU showcased their strength and cohesion as a team, setting a positive tone for their campaign in the tournament.
