Choco Mucho faced a formidable challenge from Petro Gazz in a thrilling five-set encounter, ultimately emerging victorious with a 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 15-13 triumph in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference held at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Despite dropping a tightly contested fourth set, the Flying Titans showcased resilience and determination, seizing control of the pivotal fifth frame to secure their second consecutive win in the league.

Sisi Rondina led Choco Mucho’s offensive charge, unleashing 24 points solely from powerful attacks, while Kat Tolentino contributed a versatile performance with 13 kills and four blocks, totaling 17 points.

With Choco Mucho holding a match point at 14-9, a momentary lapse in focus allowed Petro Gazz to mount a late comeback. However, timely attacks from Aiza Pontillas, Remy Palma, and Jonah Sabete narrowed the gap to 14-13 before a crucial service error from Marian Buitre gifted Choco Mucho the victory.

Three other players made significant contributions for the Flying Titans, with Isa Molde tallying 12 points, and Maddie Madayag and Cherry Nunag adding 11 points each.

Despite the loss, Sabete displayed an impressive performance for Petro Gazz, recording 29 points, primarily from 26 kills and three blocks. Brooke Van Sickle and Pontillas also contributed 18 and 15 points, respectively, for the Angels, who now hold a 1-1 record in the tournament.
