Aidric Chan, a former Junior World champion, has embarked on a journey from Cagayan de Oro to Davao to participate in the Philippine Golf Tour Qualifying School, taking place at the South Pacific Golf and Leisure Estates. The competition, which began today, features 107 contenders, including 34 international hopefuls, all vying for 30 slots in the 72-hole eliminations.

Chan, known for his past victories such as the boys’ centerpiece division in the Junior World in San Diego in 2019, is no stranger to success. He also clinched the pro-am championship with Rey Pagunsan at Splendido in the same year. Despite facing tough competition, Chan remains optimistic about his chances in the qualifiers.

Competing against a talented pool of players, Chan aims to secure a coveted berth in this year’s PGT, which is set to commence on March 12-15 at the nearby Apo Golf and Country Club. This year’s Q-School, organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., marks the first time it is being held in the south, highlighting the region’s reputation as a breeding ground for golf talents.
