Carlo Biado continued his streak of victories by clinching the 2024 Predator WPA Men’s World 10-Ball Championship crown at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, March 2.

In a thrilling final match, the 40-year-old multiple Southeast Asian Games champion defeated Japanese competitor Naoyuki Oi with a score of 4-1, 3-4, 4-2, 4-1, securing his position as the first male Filipino to triumph in the prestigious $250,000 tournament.

This triumph adds another prestigious accolade to Biado’s impressive resume, which includes victories like the 2022 WPA World Mixed Teams 10-Ball Championship alongside Johann Chua and Rubilen Amit, the 2021 US Open 9-Ball title, and the 2017 WPA World 9-Ball Championship.

Biado had previously come close to winning the same title in the 2015 edition but was defeated by Chinese Taipei’s Ko Pin-yi in the finals. However, this time around, Biado displayed a remarkable level of composure in crucial moments and executed his moves with precision.

His journey to the championship included notable victories over Ko in the quarterfinals, with a score of 4-1, 0-4, 4-1, 3-4, 4-1, and a hard-fought battle against Russian-born American Fedor Gorst, last year’s semifinalist, whom he defeated 1-4, 4-3, 4-2, 4-2, to secure his spot in the final round.

Biado’s path to victory began with impressive wins over Australian Justin Sajich, former world champion American Shane Van Boening, and Taiwanese player Lin Wu Kun in the earlier stages of the tournament, solidifying his dominance and earning him a well-deserved place in the knockout stage.
