The Filipino boxers competing in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy, have made an impressive start, with four of them advancing to the next round in their respective divisions. Nesthy Petecio, Rogen Ladon, Mark Ashley Fajardo, and Ronald Chavez Jr. have all secured victories in their opening matches, showcasing their skills and determination on the international stage.

Petecio, an Olympic silver medalist, delivered a knockout victory against Andela Brankovic of Serbia in the 57 kg division. Ladon, a medalist at the Asian Games, secured a split decision win over Federico Emilio Serra of Italy in the 51 kg division. Fajardo emerged victorious with a knockout victory over Albertino Monteiro of Portugal in the men’s 63.5 kg category, while Chavez Jr. won via split decision against Bruno de Barros Fernandez of Cape Verde in the 71 kg division.

The Filipino boxers are determined to continue their success in the tournament, with Petecio set to face Maria Claudia Nechita of Romania in the next round. Ladon will take on Said Mortaji of Morocco, while Fajardo and Chavez Jr. will also look to build on their early victories in their respective divisions.

Although not all Filipino boxers were able to secure wins in their opening matches, the team remains focused and determined to perform their best in the tournament. With their sights set on Olympic qualification, the Filipino boxers are giving their all to represent their country on the biggest stage in sports.
