The Senate and the House of Representatives have issued subpoenas against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, compelling him to appear before separate investigations regarding allegations of rape and forcing church members to beg or sell goods on the streets to fund his lifestyle. Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri signed the subpoena at the request of Sen. Risa Hontiveros, chair of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality. At the House of Representatives, Speaker Martin Romualdez and Parañaque Rep. Gus Tambunting issued a subpoena for an inquiry into alleged violations of Sonshine Media Network International, a medium used by KOJC. Failure to comply with the orders may result in actions for contempt, including possible arrest. Quiboloy has been urged to heed the subpoenas, with warnings issued regarding the consequences of non-compliance. The hearings come amid ongoing investigations into alleged abuses within the KOJC, with witnesses testifying to incidents of sexual abuse, forced labor, and other forms of mistreatment allegedly perpetrated by Quiboloy and other officials.
