Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed her joy over the city’s achievement of setting a new Guinness World Record for the most number of pork dishes displayed during the opening of the five-day hog festival at Gateway 2 mall in Cubao. She praised the collective effort of everyone involved in meticulously preparing the delectable dishes, emphasizing the city’s commitment to setting and achieving goals as a unified community.

The festival, led by the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. (NatFed), received support from the Quezon City government, particularly its Business Permits and Licensing Department and Veterinary Department, to ensure that proper protocols were followed in the preparation of the dishes. With 313 unique dishes showcased, the event secured the world record for the most number of pork dishes on display.

Jayson Cainglet, executive director of Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura and NatFed consultant, hailed the initiative as a trailblazing collaboration between local hog raisers and allied hospitality and tourism sectors, supported by an inclusive city government like Quezon City.

The pork dishes served during the festival utilized meat sourced from local hog producers, promoting local pork consumption and highlighting the country’s unique culinary tradition. The event aimed to contribute to the country’s food security goals and foster partnerships between hog producers and institutional markets like restaurants and hotels. Additionally, it sought to position Quezon City as a food tourism destination and culinary center, showcasing sumptuous and unique local pork dishes.
