House and Senate set to pass administration’s priority bills by June

Lawmakers have pledged to pass all priority bills of the Marcos administration by June, covering various areas such as restoring mandatory ROTC, delineating maritime zones, and amending laws on agricultural smuggling and government procurement. These commitments were made during the fourth Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting, with Senate President Zubiri aiming to pass 15 measures before the Senate’s adjournment and the rest in June. Speaker Romualdez noted that the House has completed passing LEDAC priority measures and transmitted them to the Senate. The LEDAC identified 21 bills as priority for passage by June, with an additional five bills supporting social and economic measures. Meanwhile, the Senate has approved the Philippine Maritime Zones Bill, aligning the country’s maritime zones with UNCLOS guidelines.
