Children aged one to four years old are now eligible to register with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for their national ID, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This expansion aims to increase PhilSys registration among Filipinos, including minors.

To register, a parent or guardian who is already registered with PhilSys must accompany the child. The child’s PhilSys number will be linked to the parent or guardian.

During registration, the accompanying adult must present supporting documents to verify the child’s demographic information. Acceptable documents include a birth certificate issued by the PSA or Local Civil Registry Office, a report of birth from the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post, or a certificate of foundling from the PSA. Municipal form 102, Philippine passport, or any document showing the child’s full name, date and place of birth, and parents’ names may also be presented.

Once demographic information is validated, a front-facing photograph of the child will be taken. Additional biometric data, such as fingerprints and iris scans, will be collected after the child turns five.

PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa encourages parents and guardians to register their children aged one to four with PhilSys, emphasizing its importance for the next generation.

PhilSys registration activities are ongoing nationwide. Walk-in registrations are accepted at registration centers, and mobile registration services are available for residents of remote or disadvantaged areas.
