In response to the alarming bomb threats conveyed via email to various government agencies and local government units (LGUs), Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to undertake a thorough investigation.

Remulla emphasized, “There should be no room for pranks or instilling fear among our citizens,” stressing the gravity of the situation. He further warned, “Let this be a stern message to those responsible that we will not condone such actions and will pursue legal action to the fullest extent.”

The Department of Justice (DOJ) disclosed that the email sender, identifying himself as Takahiro Karasawa, purportedly a Japanese lawyer from the “Steadiness Law Office,” claimed expertise as a highly knowledgeable bomb-maker. The email ominously stated that bombs would target major Philippine government agencies around 3:34 pm on February 12, 2024.

Authorities were alerted to a bomb threat received by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Central Office (DENR-Central Office), as reported by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). However, a thorough investigation revealed the incident to be a false alarm, as no explosives or hazardous materials were found.

As of now, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has not received any communication from the individual purporting to be Takahiro Karasawa.
