The Taguig City government has issued strict guidelines regarding the use of e-trikes, or electric tricycles, in the city. These guidelines are aimed at ensuring the safety of all road users and are based on the regulations outlined in LTO Administrative Order 2021-039.

Key points of the guidelines include:

1. Prohibition from National Roads: E-trikes are prohibited from passing through national roads in the city, such as C6, C5, and Kalayaan Avenue, except for crossing purposes.

2. Limitation to Personal Use: E-trikes are not allowed to be used as public transportation and are limited to personal use only.

3. No Modification: It is prohibited to modify or change the design of an e-trike, such as attaching a sidecar.

4. Helmet Requirement: All drivers and passengers of e-trikes are required to wear helmets for safety purposes.

5. Road Positioning: E-trikes are required to use the right side of the road to prevent blocking other vehicles and ensure the orderly flow of traffic.

6. Use of Bike Lanes: E-trikes can use bike lanes, but they should maintain a slow speed and give priority to cyclists.

The city government has emphasized that there will be appropriate punishment for those who violate these regulations. These measures are intended to promote road safety and ensure the smooth operation of e-trikes within the city of Taguig.
