President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. held a meeting with United States Ambassador MaryKay Carlsson, expressing appreciation to the American government for assisting Filipinos affected by recent disasters in Mindanao.

During Ambassador Carlsson’s visit to Malacañang last Tuesday, February 13, President Marcos conveyed the country’s gratitude for the emergency aid provided by the US to communities impacted by severe floods and landslides in the southern region, as reported by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Washington D.C. coordinated the dispatch of two C-130 aircraft from the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), along with teams from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Joint US Military Assistance Group (JUSMAG).

Furthermore, the US government contributed $1.25 million in emergency assistance.

Ambassador Carlsson remarked, “There’s so much that can be done more efficiently through the mechanism that exists… but sometimes you just need an extra push and it is also a good demonstration of how good the alliance can deliver.”
