Today, in celebration of International Women’s Day, women and girls are treated to complimentary rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) in Manila. This gesture serves as a token of gratitude from the MRT-3 and the Light Rail Transit Authority, recognizing the invaluable roles of women in society.

Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Jorjette Aquino expresses the MRT-3’s appreciation for women, highlighting their significant contributions. Similarly, Administrator Hernando Cabrera of the Light Rail Transit Authority acknowledges the talents and efforts of women in various fields and communities.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives commemorates the occasion with its traditional All-Women Session, led by Bulacan 4th District Rep. Linabelle Ruth Villarica. Presiding officers, including committee on women and gender equality chairperson Rep. Geraldine Roman and other distinguished representatives, underscore the importance of advocating for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The session features speeches from eleven women lawmakers, shedding light on pressing women’s issues. Additionally, House Resolution 1608, authored by Rep. Christopher de Venecia, commends the Association of Women Legislators Foundation Inc. for its unwavering dedication to women and children’s causes.

As part of the celebration, AirAsia Philippines organizes an All Women Crew flight, while the city government of Pasay hosts a job fair to provide employment opportunities for female job seekers. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority offers free enrollment in vocational courses, emphasizing skill development and empowerment.

Moreover, the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Offices opens its Courtesy Lane exclusively for women on March 16, providing passport services for women and their immediate family members. The DFA Consular Office in Cebu allocates 500 Passport Courtesy Lane slots for women throughout March, ensuring access to essential services.
