The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) made significant strides in combating illegal drug activities during operations conducted on February 10 and 11. Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson for PRO-7, reported that law enforcement authorities confiscated a total of 14,796.46 grams of shabu and 60 grams of marijuana. These illicit substances have an estimated street value exceeding P100 million, totaling P110,623,128.

Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, the director of PRO-7, ordered a thorough investigation into the origins of the confiscated drugs and their intended distribution channels due to the substantial quantity seized. The police discovered that the shabu was cleverly concealed in Chinese tea bags, suggesting a sophisticated smuggling operation likely originating from Luzon.

Furthermore, Pelare revealed that the 10 kilograms of shabu seized in this operation were linked to a previous bust in December 2023, where a similar quantity of the drug was found in a condominium in Cebu City. This discovery underscores the persistence of drug trafficking networks and the importance of ongoing efforts to dismantle them.

Acknowledging the persistent challenges posed by the prevalence of shabu in Central Visayas, Pelare reaffirmed PRO-7’s commitment under the leadership of Brigadier General Aberin to relentlessly pursue operations targeting drug suppliers and distributors. By apprehending individuals involved in these illegal activities, law enforcement aims to disrupt the supply chain and reduce the flow of drugs into the region, ultimately enhancing public safety and security.

Authorities in Central Visayas successfully conducted a raid that resulted in the seizure of illegal substances, including shabu (methamphetamine) and marijuana. As a result of the operation, several suspects have been apprehended.

During the operation, law enforcement agents confiscated a significant amount of shabu, a potent and highly addictive stimulant drug, as well as marijuana, a psychoactive substance derived from the cannabis plant. The seizure of these illicit substances represents a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region.

Additionally, multiple suspects involved in the possession and distribution of these illegal substances were taken into custody by the authorities. Their arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling drug networks and ensuring the safety and well-being of communities in Central Visayas.

Law enforcement agencies remain committed to combatting the proliferation of illegal drugs and maintaining peace and order in the region. The successful operation serves as a reminder of their dedication to upholding the rule of law and protecting the public from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
