“Filipinxt,” a celebration of local talent in fashion design and the arts, is poised to showcase the unique works of Filipino designers in New York.

A clever play on words blending the gender-neutral “-x” suffix with “Filipino” and “next,” the event aims to spotlight Filipino creativity across various platforms. Spearheaded by New York-based fashion designer Bessie Besana and restaurateur Rob Mallari-D’Auria, Filipinxt seeks to provide opportunities for Filipino creatives to gain recognition in one of the world’s major fashion capitals.

Set to take place at the historic 4W43 Building on May 5, the venue’s Renaissance Revival architecture provides an ideal backdrop to highlight Filipino fashion. For its inaugural show, Filipinxt will feature collections from four talented Filipino designers.

Bessie Besana will present “Whispers of the Cosmos,” a collection inspired by the allure of the universe. Veejay Floresca will showcase minimalist and contemporary designs with a modern twist. Wilson Limon, through his brand NIñOFRANCO, will spotlight the cultural richness of Mindanao’s ethnolinguistic communities. Meanwhile, Michael Leyva will unveil an all-white collection that combines Filipino heritage with couture craftsmanship.

In addition to the designer showcases, Marriott Hotel Manila will present a special segment, highlighting Filipino talent on a global stage. This collaboration aims to redefine Marriott Moments and celebrate life’s milestones beyond weddings.

Directed by Yancy Trinidad and documented by Kenneth Anderson, Filipinxt promises to be a melting pot of talent and collaboration, showcasing the best of Filipino creativity to the world.
