The era of quick rubdowns in Manila day spas is fading away, replaced by a transformative experience at Niyama Wellness Center within Anya Resort Tagaytay, overseen by spa director Carol Laguna. Here, the focus is on transcending mere spa treatments to embrace a holistic wellness journey that has the potential to revolutionize one’s life.

“At Anya, it’s not just about spa services; it’s truly a wellness center,” Laguna emphasizes. The center offers integrative, holistic treatments, ranging from the renowned Signature Massage featuring hot bamboo therapy, ideal for unwinding after a long day, to a range of new facial treatments utilizing Swiss-made Pevonia products, tailored to suit both men and women and their schedules. Options include a quick 30-minute “appetizer facial” for those with evening plans or post-swim refreshment, and a luxurious 60-minute treatment comprising extractions, glow scrubs, and body polishes.

While many of Niyama’s offerings will be familiar to Anya’s regular guests, the holistic menu has expanded to include five “Niyama Experiences,” encompassing not only spa treatments but also an integrative “Soul Menu” featuring healthy food options designed by a Rockwell nutritionist, catering not only to vegetarians but also to pescatarians and others. The “Movements” category includes wellness activities like yoga, tai chi, and hydrotherapy sessions held weekly in the heated Anya pool, which Laguna emphasizes can be highly beneficial to clients.

A significant addition to Niyama’s offerings is Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) under the guidance of Dr. JP Prado. This therapy, distinct from chiropractic treatment, focuses on aligning bones and offers a personalized treatment plan based on individual concerns, often involving lifestyle adjustments for a truly holistic approach.

Niyama also hosts periodic lifestyle retreats such as “Crossroads to Wellness” and “Inner Journeys,” facilitated by experts like Marilen Elizalde and Lia Bernardo, respectively. These retreats delve into lifestyle coaching, self-love, and mindset shifts to empower guests to embrace positive change in their lives.

Laguna, drawing from her experience as a physical therapist and her tenure at Mandala Resort in Boracay, emphasizes the importance of infusing mindfulness and positive energy into treatments. All therapists at Niyama engage in pre-treatment yoga sessions to impart positive energy to guests, fostering a deeply rejuvenating experience.

As Anya Resort completes its Phase 3 expansion plans, Niyama will add five more treatment rooms and private spa villas, further establishing itself as a premier destination for holistic wellness. Additionally, starting in March, guests can indulge in Wellness Day packages, offering a comprehensive retreat experience featuring the center’s new treatments.

In response to the growing demand for lifestyle transformations, Laguna observes a shift in people’s desires, noting an increasing inclination towards seeking respite away from the bustle of Manila and embracing holistic wellness practices to foster lasting change.
