Actor Tom Rodriguez has disclosed that he has re-entered the dating scene after a two-year hiatus following his divorce from Carla Abellana. Their marriage ended in 2022, leading Tom to take a break from the entertainment industry and spend time in the United States. However, he is now returning to the spotlight for Tanghalang Una Obra’s “Ibarra: Isang Dulang Pangkonsierto.”

In a recent interview with “24 Oras,” Tom shared that during his time in the United States, he focused on self-love and healing. When asked if he was ready to open his heart again, Tom confidently confirmed that he is, revealing that he is currently seeing someone. He expressed that this new chapter in his romantic life came when he least expected it but was ready to embrace it.

However, Tom opted to keep his new partner’s identity private for the time being, stating that he wants to keep this aspect of his life to himself. He hinted that eventually, people will get to know about it naturally as he lives his life openly, but for now, he prefers to keep it private.

Carla Abellana, Tom’s ex-wife, expressed in January that she was not fazed by the news of Tom’s return to the Philippines, acknowledging that it was inevitable for them to cross paths again. Tom responded to questions about potentially encountering Carla, stating that he holds no particular sentiment about it, as they have both moved on with their lives and have their separate paths.

Carla and Tom were in a relationship for seven years before tying the knot, but their marriage lasted less than a year before their separation in October 2021. Their divorce was finalized in the United States in June 2022, where Tom holds American citizenship. However, it has yet to be officially recognized in the Philippines, as the Philippine court needs to acknowledge the divorce decree from the United States for it to be legally recognized.
