Park Seo-joon’s blockbuster movie is currently streaming on Viu
The Korean disaster thriller film “Concrete Utopia,” which grossed over $28 million, is now accessible for streaming on Viu Philippines.
Ranked as Korea’s fourth highest-grossing movie of 2023, “Concrete Utopia” unfolds in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake that ravages Seoul. Amidst the chaos, the Hwang Gung Apartments stand as a solitary beacon of stability. As survivors converge on the site seeking refuge from the devastation, a young couple, Min-sung (portrayed by Park Seo-joon) and Myung-hwa (played by Park Boo-young), grapple with critical decisions while a mysterious figure named Yeong-tak (embodied by Lee Byung-Hun) emerges to shape the fate of the community. With the apartment reaching maximum occupancy, residents resort to drastic measures to ensure their survival.
Since its premiere in South Korea in August 2023, “Concrete Utopia” has captivated audiences worldwide with its compelling narrative, suspenseful twists, and standout performances. It received acclaim at various international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Sitges International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India, and Kolkata International Film Festival.
In its home country, South Korea, the film garnered multiple accolades at the Grand Bell Awards, securing wins for Best Film, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Director, Best Sound Editing, Best Actor for Lee Byung-hun, and Best Supporting Actress for Kim Sun-young.
Furthermore, the Korean Film Council proudly selected “Concrete Utopia” as South Korea’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2024 Oscars.
