Two Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) candidates, Phoebe Arriana Torita and Anita Rose Gomez, are actively advancing their advocacies for agriculture and education.

Torita, hailing from Kananga, Leyte, draws upon her experience managing her family’s farming operation to advocate for the support and recognition of local farmers. She aims to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that farmers receive updated training and have access to modern farming technologies. Despite being the youngest candidate at 18, Torita is dedicated to preparing for the upcoming pageant and promoting her advocacy.

On the other hand, Gomez, representing Zambales province, has a history of competing in beauty contests and leading philanthropic efforts. Despite her humble beginnings, Gomez is passionate about giving back to her community. Through her “Para Kay Juan At Juana” project, she focuses on improving the lives of children in less fortunate areas by providing education materials and support. Gomez particularly emphasizes reaching out to marginalized sectors such as the Aeta community, recognizing their unequal access to quality education.

Both Torita and Gomez exemplify the spirit of advocacy and empowerment, striving to make a positive impact in their respective communities and beyond through their participation in the Miss Universe Philippines competition.

The Miss Universe Philippines coronation night is scheduled for May 11 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
