WATSONS Philippines is working this year to bring more sustainable products to its customers as part of its efforts to ramp up its anti-climate change efforts. This is the Watsons environment friendly products.
Vikki Herrera-Encarnacion, Watsons Philippines Public Relations and Sustainability director, highlighted the company’s sustainability achievements during the “Do Good Webinar.” Watsons has been able to offer approximately 1,200 sustainable products with improved packaging and ingredients to date. “Admittedly, these numbers are small in comparison to the problems the world faces today,” Encarnacion said. “That is why, in the coming months, Watsons aims to step up our programs for communities and the planet.”
Watsons’ suppliers are encouraged to develop more sustainable products, according to Encarnacion. She added that the company’s goal for this year is to double its current count of 1,200 sustainable products in all of its stores nationwide. Therefore promoting the Watsons environment friendly products.
“So, we want them to introduce more refill packs, we want them to review, re-look at the ingredients that they use or even the packaging that they use for their products,” Encarnacion explained. “And you know, we incentivize them. Once they qualify for that classification, we actually give them more display space.”
She also mentioned how the company encourages its employees to push more sustainable products to its customers. “And that is used, actually, at the end of the year, when they are evaluated for their performance, we look at target achievement,” she explained.
“We appeal to their altruistic spirit, we advertise more, and we actually say, for every sustainable choice product they buy, they are actually supporting the collection and recycling programs of plastic bags,” Encarnacion added. “When all of these are in place, we are confident that our suppliers, employees, and customers will start making that conscious choice to live more sustainably and to be more caring to the planet.”
