Sky Cable Corp. of ABS-CBN is intensifying its fight against illegal cable cutting, which has become a big burden for the firm.

According to SkyCable, there has been an increase in the number of intentional cable-cutting instances, resulting in internet and cable service outages.

Thousands of Filipino families have been affected by these tragedies around the country.

Sky Cable Corp of ABS-CBN which provides cable TV and fiber internet services across the country, opposes intentional cable cutting by unscrupulous individuals looking to benefit from the illegal practice.

Intentional cable cuts, according to the business, occur when criminals snip off difficult-to-reach fiber optic cables and profit from the stolen copper wires inside.

Sky Cable Corp of ABS-CBN has initiated a campaign called “Oplan Kontra Putol” to fight these acts.

Claudia Suarez, SkyCable’s chief operating officer, said the business is actively working with a variety of pay TV, telco, and internet service providers to put a stop to unlawful cable cutting.

“‘Oplan Kontra Putol’ underlines our commitment to providing our SKY Kapamilyas with a dependable and uninterrupted internet connection as well as cable services,” Suarez stated.

“You can rest confident that we are working closely with local government units and agencies on a daily basis to prevent similar tragedies,” she said.

RJ Licup, SkyCable’s chief of network operations, said the business is working with local authorities to keep an eye on the streets and barangays for unlawful activity.

He also stated that the corporation is pursuing more legal measures to put a stop to these unlawful practices.

Under Republic Act 10515, or the Cable Theft Law, intentional cable cutting is penalized by law with two to five years in prison or substantial fines issued at the discretion of the court.

SkyCable is asking the public to assist in the firm’s campaign to stop intentional cable cuts by reporting incidences to the company for urgent action.

“Intentional cable cutting is a disservice to Filipinos,” Licup added, “particularly at a time when people rely significantly on fast, secure, and reliable internet and cable connectivity to go about their everyday lives.”
