Vena Energy has affirmed its commitment to supporting the Philippine government’s renewable energy objectives. The company, which operates across the Asia-Pacific region, expressed optimism in its alignment with the country’s renewable energy goals. The Philippines has been actively promoting renewable energy through various initiatives like the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), and Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) to encourage more investments in clean energy.

In response to concerns surrounding its Rizal wind power project, Vena Energy asserted that it followed proper procedures for its wind study outside the Masungi Georeserve conservation area in Rizal province. The company emphasized its adherence to government regulations and mandatory testing and compliance in all its projects. Vena Energy highlighted the permits it obtained, including the Environmental Compliance Certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Certificate of Registration from the Board of Investments, and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), among others.

Vena Energy underscored its extensive consultations with indigenous peoples communities, elders, and chieftains, resulting in signed Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) and issued Certification Precondition by the NCIP. The company also conducted consultations with the DENR and various stakeholders, clarifying that it is not building in the karst area of Bgy. Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal.

Despite calls for the revocation of permits and clearances from caretakers of the Masungi Georeserve conservation area, Vena Energy continues its operations. The company currently operates five solar plants in the Philippines, along with the 54-megawatt Pililla Wind Farm in Rizal, demonstrating its commitment to advancing renewable energy in the country.
