Paybox from PLDT and Smart are being expanded

PLDT Inc. and its cellular unit, Smart Communications Inc., have expanded their self-service payment kiosk machine to more locations, allowing customers to pay their landline, internet, and mobile bills without having to wait in line to transact with store workers.
In February, PLDT and Smart launched their Paybox digital kiosks in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna.
The retail innovation is part of PLDT and Smart ongoing digital transformation, which is in line with the company’s larger goal of improving the quality of service it provides to customers through technology and innovation.
Customers in Rizal, Batangas, Quezon, and Cebu will have additional access to the service as PLDT and Smart roll out more Paybox kiosks in certain mall-based hubs and freestanding retailers.
Paybox is currently available in 56 locations around the country.
“This is part of our commitment to put our customers at the heart of our business and build platforms and technologies that best meet their needs,” said Jeanine Rubin, PLDT’s first vice president and head of the customer experience group.
Paybox accepts cash, credit or debit cards, PayMaya QR codes, and virtual change, allowing users to make contactless payments without having to deal with a human.
Customers can also combine two payment methods for a more convenient transaction, with their PLDT or Smart account number being the only information required.
Payments will also be recorded in their accounts in real time.
“This also allows us to offer a more convenient service to our non-digitally aware or even unbanked consumers and a speedier manner to pay their bills,” Rubin said.
Customers must travel to a Paybox kiosk to pay their bill, choose PLDT or Smart on the touchscreen, enter their account number, and select the manner of payment that they desire.
Customers can separate their payments into two modes using an additional function, making the transaction more flexible and convenient.
Customers must input the amount they desire to pay and confirm after selecting their preferred way of payment. A payment confirmation will appear on the screen once you’ve finished.
