NLEX Corp. is intensifying its commitment to sustainability by expanding its fleet of electric vehicles (EVs). Currently, the tollway company operates six EVs, with plans to add eight more by the end of this month.

According to NLEX President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista, EVs offer a significant advantage in reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. He emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability into daily operations, a commitment that began last year with the transition to EVs for company vehicles.

To support the growing EV fleet, NLEX is constructing an EV charging station at its Sta. Rita office in Bulacan, slated for completion next month. Another station will follow in Balintawak by the third quarter of this year. These stations will utilize solar energy and boast rapid charging capabilities, capable of charging an EV battery from zero to 85 percent in just 40 minutes.

Bautista outlined additional sustainability measures for the year, including broader use of renewable and solar energy across NLEX premises. The company has already implemented solar power roofing and solar perimeter lighting systems at its office parking areas, demonstrating its commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
