ABOITIZ Power Corp. (AboitizPower) made a recent technological breakthrough after completing the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Bootcamp, in which attendees newly developed 23 “robots” intended to improve customer service and overall company operations – AboitizPower robots.

One is the AboitizPower robots created by a team member of the Cebu-based distribution company Visayan Electric, which has the ability to consolidate large amounts of data from various sources and generate accurate and actionable reports.

“More than 200,000 customer records are involved in this process. From the over 10 hours we normally need to complete the task, we were able to do it in less than half an hour with the robot. This is an improvement of more than 95 percent, ”said Gratz Redoble, system operations supervisor at Visayan Electric.

The RPA Bootcamp trained team members from various business units of AboitizPower, with some participants having minimal experience or knowledge of information technology.

“The program really helped me to acquire new skills as I had no experience in programming. It opened up a new interest that I could never have imagined, “said Marc Daryl Lao, quality assurance specialist at Davao Light.

Not to be confused with mechanical robots, RPA technology can be described as “metaphorical software robots” that use artificial intelligence to perform manual and repetitive tasks that would otherwise be very tedious to complete. These activities may include acquiring customer information, querying power outage data, and accelerating internal processes in the case of AboitizPower and its distribution utilities such as Visayan Electric.

The newly developed AboitizPower robots have reduced the delivery and processing times of participating teams by an average of 50%, saving time, money and effort and allowing team members to add more value to the work.

AboitizPower Vice President for Innovation and Digital Transformation Chat Balita said he intends to transform the organization into a digital and forward-looking workplace, fueling the culture of innovation and digital citizenship.

“We see our people ‘leap’ from our ordinary roles to digital skills and competences, to be ready for the future and prepared to face the great order of disruptive technology. This is what it means to have a digital to be a citizen,” he said. affirmed added. The RPA Bootcamp is just one of AboitizPower’s DigitaLeap programs. It aims to embed innovation and digital initiatives across all areas of business and foster a digital-ready mindset within the organization.

As Aboitiz Group’s big transformation becomes the Philippines’ first “tech glomerate”, more enablement programs will be put in place to equip more team members with digital skills. This is truly an big advancement on technological capability to have the AboitizPower robots in place.
