MerryMart, owned by Tycoon Edgar “Injap” Sia II, and Ayala Land Inc., a property giant, have signed a deal that will last for 15 years and will result in the expansion of MerryMart’s supermarket footprint in ALI’s developments in the provinces of Laguna and Tarlac.

Yesterday, MerryMart announced in a disclosure that it had inked a 15-year lease contract with ALI to construct full-sized stand-alone open eco-supermarkets that are favorable to the environment in the expansive communities of Nuvali Laguna and Cresendo Tarlac, both of which are being developed by ALI.

The MerryMart Grocery location in Cresendo will have around 2,076 square meters of shop space, while the MerryMart Grocery location in Nuvali will have approximately 2,261 square meters. Both locations will be flanked by large parking areas.

MerryMart Grocery’s new stand-alone full-sized open eco-supermarkets design is going to be the format that is meant for placements in horizontal neighborhoods, according to Edgar Injap Sia II, the chairman of MerryMart Grocery.

“The MerryMart Group is delighted to have the opportunity to soon serve and delight customers living in and surrounding the massive community projects being built by Ayala Land in Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Cresendo in Tarlac,” he stated.

Solar panels will be installed on the supermarkets’ rooftops, and energy-saving LED lighting fixtures and appliances will be utilized throughout the stores. In addition, there will be designated parking for bicycles and outlets for charging electric vehicles.

The full-sized supermarket style will carry the whole product line offered by MerryMart, including those for groceries, pharmacies, personal care, and other necessities of daily life.

MerryMart Store, MerryMart Market, MerryMart Grocery, MerryMart Delivery, and MerryMart Wholesale are some of the different formats that MerryMart Group offers.

MerryMart has recently established a new subsidiary called MM Consumer Technologies Corp., and the company’s first product in its consumer technology portfolio is called MBOX Smart Lockers.

It is anticipated that the MM Consumer Technologies portfolio will complement the consumer-centric environment that the MerryMart Group now operates.

The MerryMart Group plans to have a total of 1,200 locations across the country by the year 2030, as part of its Vision 2030 initiative. It aims to generate P120 billion in systemwide recurring consumer sales revenue.

MerryMart now has 105 locations around the country thanks to its diverse portfolio of natural and organic food stores and its recent spate of mergers and acquisitions.

MerryMart reported a net income of P12.33 million for the first quarter, representing a growth of 29.3 percent in comparison to the same time period in the prior year.

The company’s sales for the quarter came in at P1.2 billion, representing an increase of 30.8 percent.

The company has been increasing the variety of products it sells, enhancing the effectiveness of its supply chain, and including more products bearing its own house brand in its assortment.
