Collaboration to deliver industrial 5G use cases using private wireless networks and edge computing.

Etisalat UAE, a subsidiary of the new brand identity e&, announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to address the growing demand for digitalization in various industries, with use cases focusing on enterprises in oil and gas, manufacturing, and logistics.

Etisalat UAE and the cloud provider will work together to develop industry-specific solutions that provide low latency and high-performance computer services through the use of 5G private networks and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). This will be used in a variety of use cases, including interactive AR/VR, industrial automation, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the edge. The collaborative effort will enable UAE business customers to simplify their operations, improve employee safety, and increase the resiliency of their production and linked critical business processes.

While extending cloud capabilities to the network’s edge provides massive benefits to business customers across many industries, the most significant barriers to scale remain a lack of cloud skillsets and the complexity of solution integration.

Etisalat UAE’s collaboration with the cloud services provider enables its customers to try and test industrial use cases at a low cost and with a low initial investment. Successful deployments can then be scaled quickly and effectively to maximize the return on customer investment, taking advantage of the advantages of cloud-based 5G and MEC solutions.

“We are thrilled to be working with Amazon Web Services as a solution provider partner.” “The collaboration provides enormous opportunities to expand cloud technologies and capabilities,” said Khalid Murshed, Etisalat UAE CTIO.

He also stated that this is a great way to work on new use cases in oil and gas, manufacturing, and logistics while increasing productivity, simplifying operations, and innovating more quickly. “This collaboration is consistent with our overall strategy of delivering transformative technologies and innovative solutions to customers across multiple industry verticals.” “In the near future, we hope to identify additional opportunities to innovate with AWS,” he said.

Etisalat UAE will provide two sets of value propositions: fully managed private wireless networks and Multi-Access Edge Compute (MEC), which will combine Etisalat UAE’s single-digit millisecond latency 5G network with cloud services. The second will see Etisalat UAE leveraging the cloud provider’s large developer community to innovate and create industrial use cases based on Amazon Web Services capabilities, which will then be marketed to Etisalat UAE’s customers. It will provide additional integration and management in this area to lower entry barriers for business customers seeking to adopt cloud capabilities at the edge.

As the demand for digitalization grows in the UAE’s various industries, Etisalat has made new edge connectivity, such as 5G and edge computing, available to its business customers.
