BIOPRIME Agri Industries Inc. promotes balanced fertilization in rice cultivation to improve farm soil health in the Philippines.

The first of a series of workshops on “Balanced Fertilization Rice Farming Methods and Practices” is set to take place next month.

This comes as the agriculture firm prepares to host the first of a series of workshops on “Balanced Fertilization Rice Farming Methods and Practices” on April 8, 2022 in Barangay San Miguel, Quezon, Nueva Ecija.

The workshop will be held in technical collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, and will include all regional offices, bureaus, attached agencies, and corporations, as well as locally and foreign-assisted projects to increase the use of biotechnologies in Philippine agriculture.

The use of conventional synthetic fertilizers in conjunction with other fertilization techniques such as nano or biological fertilizers is referred to as balanced fertilization. This method has been shown to boost yields, improve soil health, reduce chemical use, and, most importantly, increase farmer earnings.

BioPrime is a leading nano fertilizer in the Philippines, having been proven in independent trials with the Philippine Rice Research Institute under the Agriculture Department to increase yield while lowering farm input costs in rice farming. Corn and sugar cane have shown similar promise, and trials are still ongoing.

BioPrime 555, the company’s flagship fertilizer, comes in 3×5-gram bottles that must be activated in water before use and has been shown to be sufficient for supplementing one hectare of rice. The product eliminates the need for transportation and hauling and can be delivered in large quantities in a matter of days. The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority has approved this product for all crop applications.

Extensive case studies provide BioPrime’s proof for “balanced fertilization.” These results show that using BioPrime 555 fertilizer can cut fertilization costs by up to 50%.

“After two and a half years of clinical testing and research, BioPrime brings to the workshop a wealth of knowledge on crop enhancement, water and soil benefits, increased productivity, farming efficiency, besides a range of other environmental benefits, increased nutritional values, which we want to share with Filipinos,” said Ben Mead, BioPrime chairman.

“Our documentation on these is complete,” Mead added.

“Similarly, 15 grams of BioPrime has been shown to be sufficient to support one hectare of food crops such as rice; with such a reduction, a balanced fertilization program becomes relevant and should be introduced systematically in rice fields throughout the Philippines,” he added.
