Acer lifestyle brand transformation will sell energy drinks

“The Acer Lifestyle brand to sell energy drinks according to Chairman Jason Chen.”

We all know that Acer Inc. is one of Taiwan’s largest computer vendors, has established a new drinks business division and will launch its own energy drink in July, as part of its efforts to change itself from a pure PC brand to a “lifestyle” brand.

Acer Chairman Jason Chen informed reporters earlier this week that the company is launching its first energy drink, dubbed “Predator Shot,” as a follow-up to its gaming PC “Predator” series.

Chen explained that the PC market is mature, with a lot of competition, and that Acer can’t afford to wait for a favorable development in such a situation.

Instead, Chen believes Acer needs to do more to break through the business barrier, which is why the company is attempting to establish itself as a lifestyle brand by marketing beverages tied to its core PC business.

Acer isn’t the first computer manufacturer to create energy-saving products. Razer Inc., a gaming PC and accessory company based in Colorado, released its “Respawn” powdered energy drink mix last year.

According to Chen, gamers who use energy drinks to keep their energy levels up while playing are among the targeted clientele of energy drinks, according to an internal poll.

“Predator Shot,” according to Acer, contains vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B. Chen added that gamers use Lutein to protect their eyes when staring at a computer screen for lengthy periods of time.

Acer lifestyle brand will also produce a collagen drink for female gamers, in addition to the “Predator Shot,” Chen stated.

Acer lifestyle brand plans to start selling the beverages through e-commerce platforms in July, after spending roughly six months preparing and obtaining certifications for the products, according to Chen. According to Chen, the “Predator Shot” will be available in Taiwan and Europe, while the collagen drink will only be available in Taiwan.

Two additional drinks are being planned, according to Chen.

According to Acer lifestyle brand, non-PC activities accounted for 15% of overall sales in 2019, up from 6-7 percent six years ago.

According to Gartner, Acer lifestyle brand was the world’s fifth-largest PC provider in the first quarter of 2020, with a market share of 5.6 percent, trailing China’s Lenovo Group Ltd. (24.4%), HP Inc. (21.5%), Dell Inc. (19.7%), and Apple Inc. (6.9 percent).
