The Senate has ordered the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Leader Apollo Quiboloy for repeatedly failing to appear at hearings despite being summoned. Quiboloy’s refusal to attend the hearings, which concern allegations of human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse, violence, and child abuse, led to the issuance of the arrest order. Once apprehended, he will be detained until he complies with the committee’s inquiry. Quiboloy’s counsel argued against his client’s appearance, stating that attending the hearings would be futile as the investigation had already deemed him guilty. Despite objections from some senators, the arrest order was approved by the Senate President. Additionally, legal proceedings initiated by the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office, in response to allegations of sexual and child abuse, have commenced against Quiboloy and several others. These developments coincide with Quiboloy’s inclusion on the US FBI’s Most Wanted list for alleged involvement in sex trafficking offenses.
