Four Army soldiers fell victim to an ambush by suspected terrorists in Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday morning. The soldiers, all members of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID), were attacked while returning to their patrol base from a market in Tuayan 1, Datu Hoffer. It is believed that at least 10 Daulah Islamic terrorists were involved in the ambush.

The soldiers, who were in civilian attire and a civilian vehicle, had purchased food to distribute to fellow Muslims during Ramadan. Sadly, they were met with gunfire from the attackers, preventing them from retaliating.

The identities of the fallen soldiers—a corporal, two privates, and a private first class—have been withheld pending notification of their families. Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, the commander of 6ID, condemned the cowardly attack, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

In response, the military has initiated pursuit operations and heightened security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
