Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri has assured that the Senate subpoena summoning Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) ministry founder Apollo Quiboloy to address allegations of rape and forced labor will be signed promptly. Zubiri cited administrative backlog exacerbated by tensions between the Senate and House of Representatives, including the subpoena for Quiboloy, who was scheduled to appear at a public hearing chaired by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, head of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality.

“I have been informed by my staff that the subpoena for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been prepared and is now awaiting my signature… but I will sign all these documents upon my return,” Zubiri relayed to Senate reporters via Viber, clarifying his recent engagements in the Visayas.

Hontiveros has urged the Senate leadership to endorse her subpoena, compelling Quiboloy’s attendance at her committee’s inquiry into alleged abuses within the KOJC ministry.

Quiboloy has consistently denied the accusations leveled against him.
