President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed confidence in the potential for faster fiber internet speeds in the Philippines following the completion of the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN), the country’s longest and highest capacity domestic submarine fiber cable network. Speaking at the lighting up ceremony of the PDSCN at The Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City, Marcos hailed the project as a “game changer” in the nation’s pursuit of internet interconnectivity and digital transformation.

Covering approximately 2,500 kilometers, the PDSCN now stands as the longest and highest capacity domestic submarine fiber cable network in the Philippines, linking various islands from Quezon to Zamboanga, Marcos announced. He expressed excitement and optimism about the prospect of faster fiber internet speeds for Filipinos with the completion of the PDSCN.

Marcos extended his congratulations to InfiniVAN Inc. and its partners, Globe Telecom and Eastern Telecommunications, for bringing the impressive project to fruition. He highlighted the project as a testament to Japanese ingenuity and technological advancement, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

The President underscored the significance of the PDSCN in providing a long-term solution for delivering high-connectivity and high-speed internet to the Filipino people, advancing the vision of a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines). He emphasized that the project would enhance the country’s appeal as a destination for technology-centric businesses, including hyperscale data centers and AI computing, positioning the Philippines for further economic growth and development.
