Sony provides PC gaming equipment under a new name

Sony Corporation made the announcement on Wednesday that it would be launching a new brand that would sell gaming equipment accessories for personal computers. This move was made in an effort to expand Sony’s business beyond its best-selling PlayStation console (PCs).

This move is being made as part of an ongoing effort by the multinational corporation with its headquarters in Japan to compete for a share of the global market for gaming peripherals, which Grand View Research estimates will be worth $3.88 billion in the year 2019.

The company’s new Inzone brand is designed specifically with computer gamers in mind, and the first products to be released under this brand will be three wireless headphones and two monitors, the most expensive of which is expected to sell for a suggested price of $899.99 in the United States.

“the industry has been developing with a larger interest in gaming equipment with the proliferation of esports events and the growth of gaming entertainment,” said Yukihiro Kitajima, head of the game business and marketing division at Sony. “the growth of gaming entertainment has also contributed to this increased interest in gaming.”

Sony was a somewhat late entrant into the market for computers and peripherals, making it a competitor to Microsoft, which is already well-established in the industry.

There is a possibility that the date is connected to the production challenges that Sony and other console manufacturers are facing. These manufacturers are unable to meet demand due to supply chain problems brought on by the global chip shortage and the pandemic of the coronavirus.

An analyst at Toyo Securities named Hideki Yasuda stated that “the PC gaming sector is becoming crucial for Sony in order for the company to show stable profit to investors given the restricted supply of PS5 (PlayStation 5) and rising game production costs.”
