Alaska Milk Corp. (AMC), which is approaching its 50th anniversary, has promised to achieve net zero plastic waste by the end of the year

This comes after AMC signed a memorandum of understanding with Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) on May 4, committing to offset 604 tons of plastic trash by 2021. More plastic garbage will be diverted from landfills and the oceans as a result of this.

The agreement was signed by Nanette Medved-Po, PCX founder and executive chairman; Tarang Gupta, AMC managing director; Roel van Neerbos, FrieslandCampina Food and Beverage president; and Harvey Uong, senior vice president for Asia, as witnesses.

Plastic Credit Exchange was thanked by Neerbos for this collaboration. “FrieslandCampina’s identity is predicated on the concept that strength comes from working together,” he stated. “Our objective of nourishing a better world requires collaboration; together, we can ensure a sustainable future for future generations.”

Uong emphasized the importance of working together to address the plastic trash crisis. “It takes a team effort to handle large-scale issues like global plastic waste, and Alaska Milk Corp.’s collaboration with PCX will help us take another step forward in our fight against plastic pollution while also providing the greatest nourishment for Filipinos across the country.”

PH must lead the charge against plastic pollution.

“We applaud Alaska Milk Corporation’s commitment to combating the plastic waste challenge,” Medved-Po stated. “Our aims of repairing our oceans and protecting our world become more attainable with the assistance of corporations like AMC, local communities, and the government.”

Gupta, for one, believes AMC understands its importance in reducing plastic waste. “Our group will continue to increase our efforts in tackling plastic pollution moving forward,” he added.

To accomplish its plastic neutrality objective, AMC plans to co-process, recycle, or upcycle a total of 873 metric tons. Other AMC efforts, such as the Alaska Wrapper Redemption Program and a cooperation with D&G Pacific Corp. to develop a multi-layered upcycling factory in the Philippines, will provide the remaining metric tons of plastic required.
